What does DUP mean? (Item 55)

Larry said...

I don't know. Do U P?

DUP means Daughters of Utah Pioneers. There is also SUP, Sons of Utah Pioneers. Anyone who has relatives in Utah before the railroad came to Utah can join. It is an organization that collects histories of early settlers in Utah.

It would be really interesting to see some of those histories.

Wow, Gatha, that is excellent! Lately I have considered joining the DUP. What do they do? Does it cost money to join? Have you shared any of our family histories?

Lorraine, I'm sure that you would enjoy DUP, I did the history of John Madison Chidester and the history of Christen Jensen. They are available in the DUP library. I am the secretary of our camp. Every month there is a lesson about settlements of the church and there is a history given by members, about someone who settled in Utah, before the railroad.
